At Chen’s family cuisine, food is family.

Our story begins in a small village in China, where the owner’s parents ran a humble, beloved restaurant. Surrounded by sizzling woks, rich broths, and the aroma of star anise and chili oil, their son grew up immersed in the rhythms of traditional Chinese cooking. That early love for flavour and family would become his lifelong passion.

Now in Eindhoven, Chen Jia Yan is a continuation of that legacy — reimagined. We specialize in the bold, numbing heat of Sichuan cuisine, but we also embrace fusion, combining regional Chinese flavours with modern culinary touches. Whether it’s a classic mapo tofu or a creative take on dumplings, every dish reflects both heritage and innovation.

Sichuan boiled beef

A classic Sichuan dish served in a rich, flavorful broth. Choose your preferred spice level for the soup base — from mild to extra spicy. Inside you'll find tender slices of beef, a mix of fresh vegetables, and the signature numbing heat of Sichuan pepper. Fragrant, bold, and comforting.

sweet & sour fried fish

A beautifully crispy whole fish, lightly coated in flour and fried until golden. It’s topped with our homemade sweet and sour sauce, finished with crunchy pine nuts for texture and aroma. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside — a true celebration dish full of flavor and tradition.

Mapo tofu

A bold and comforting Sichuan classic made with soft tofu simmered in a rich, spicy chili bean sauce. Infused with garlic, ginger, fermented black beans, and Sichuan peppercorns for that signature málà (numbing and spicy) flavor. Traditionally served with minced meat, but also available as a fully vegetarian version — just as flavourful, just as fiery.
